it has a literal meaning .. it is derived  from homoeos +pathos
which means similar sufferings. That means treating a person by the means of medicines which can produce similar symtoms in a healthy person which it can cure in diseased individuals.
In simple words,it means that if you are diseased and u are given a homoeopathic medicine on the basis of your symptoms...and if that same medicine is given to healthy persons then it will produce those same diseased symptoms which u have!
So see how magical it is. some people will think, it is all a philosophy but believe me it is true
and how it is so , u will learn for sure.
Thus homoeopathy works on a fixed principle that is similia similibus curantur unlike allopathy which do not have any fixed principle. That is why homoeopathy is referred to as a science as science works on some fixed principles which has many proofs and anyone who will perform that same experiment will get same results over and over again. It is universal.
